Drugs for Retinal Disease that are Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory
Chenguang WangIn ophthalmology, NSAIDs are frequently used to treat pain and photophobia following photorefractive surgery as well as to lessen meiosis, inflammation, and cystoid macular edema following cataract surgery. The US Food and Drug Administration has recently approved novel topical NSAIDs and modified previously approved NSAIDs. These modifications might improve drug absorption into the retina and provide additional therapeutic benefits. For instance, therapeutic effects on age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy may now be possible. We offer an updated evaluation of the clinical application and scientific justification of NSAIDs for retinal illness.
