PET/CT application in pediatric oncology
Leilei Yuan, Nan Zhang, Chunlin Li and Jigang YangRadionuclide functional imaging has become a central part of pediatric oncological practice. There have been a number of major advances in imaging technology in recent years. PET/CT is becoming an important imaging method in evaluating many pediatric malignancies, such as lymphomas, soft‑tissue tumors and sarcomas. PET/CT may provide information that is not detected by conventional imaging. During PET/CT application in pediatric patients, physicians should have the knowledge of the technical issues, pediatric anatomy and physiology that is different from adult patients. In this review, we describe the technical issues in pediatric PET/CT scan, false negative and positive cause in pediatric PET/CT images, and the value of PET/CT in pediatric oncology.
